Membership

The Jewish Genealogy Society of Greater Washington was founded in 1980 to collect, preserve, and disseminate Jewish genealogical knowledge and information.

The Society seeks to attain its objectives by:
  • Promoting genealogical research.
  • Providing instruction in the use of research methodology and adherence to standards of accuracy.
  • Fostering careful documentation and promoting scholarly genealogical writing and publication.
  • Promoting the preservation of Jewish genealogical records and resources.
  • Instructing and educating its members and the general public.

Membership in the society is open to anyone who is interested in supporting its goals.
  • Yearly dues are $30 for an individual member and $45 for a family. A special Patron membership is now available. For an annual contribution of $100 patrons are recognized in the Mishpacha newsletter and at general meetings of the Society.
  • The Society is certified as a non-profit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code and contributions may be tax deductible according to law.
